Karin was born into a pure-blooded wizarding family as an only child. Her mother's profession was unknown to her, but her father worked at Azkaban where he owned a big portion of it. Because of this Karin was able to visit the prison and watch over the prisoners. Her father soon took her in as one of his subordinates and she made it part of her daily life guarding the prisoners at Azkaban and keep them in check. Her father was also know to be a bit on the "insane" side and for that people were afraid of him, despite that Karin still remained loyal to him.
Personality wise Karin is seen as tough and controlling (Probably due to spending time at the prison for such a long time), but she does have the tendency freak out a little bit every once in a while and is not afraid to punch anyone if she has to. So in the long run to others she does not come off as the friendly type, but rather....bitchy. She also shows great knowledge of what goes on in Azkaban, including all its dark secrets.
